This & That...

We realized recently that we have too many gadgets.  With Tim's two cameras, my little camera, Tim's ipod, and 2 video cameras, we have way too much documentation of our travels.  That makes it hard to pick photos to share on our blog with you (if anyone is even reading this)... so that is our excuse for not updating more often!  Looking back through the photo roll on Tim's ipod, we realized it gives a pretty good snapshot of our life this year, during our second year in India.  We hope you enjoy these ipod "snaps" as they are called in India!

Our flight from Chicago to Delhi in July 2011.  Only 7477 miles to go!

Beautiful sunset over the Atlantic - on the way back to India!

In an Old Delhi cycle rickshaw (this one was actually taken last year)

At breakfast in the peaceful mountains of Dharamsala, India

Town of McLeod Ganj, Himalayan Mountains

Singapore, December 2011 (The now-deserted apartment building Tim & his family used to live in)

100 + and Singapore noodles... yum!

The sick patient in Chiang Mai, Thailand - good hospital!

Got some antibiotics and I survived!

With Tom Cruise in Bangkok (Katie was out picking up some Krispy Kreme downstairs in the mall).

The historical Red Fort in Delhi (and we STILL haven't been inside for a tour).  This photo was taken just after I got hit by an auto-rickshaw when crossing the street in Old Delhi.

An interesting advertisement at a local market in Delhi.  That gives me confidence!  LOL

At Humayan's Tomb, Delhi last year (designed by the same architect who designed the Taj Mahal).
Those are a few snapshots from our year in New Delhi (and a few flashbacks to last year).  We can't believe we are almost at our 2 year mark for India!  There is still much to see and do... so we signed on for another year in India.  Hopefully next year will be full of good health and explorations!

A taste of North Carolina in Bangkok

From Winston Salem to Bangkok
Karen and I were walking towards Siam Mall in Bangkok last week and noticed a line of people waiting to go inside.  It was 95° and humid, so I knew there had to be something important inside.  I walked in expecting to see a Thai version of Justin Bieber signing posters and flashing peace signs at flashing cameras.  It turned out to be WAY better than that!  Walking past the queue moments ago, I knew I recognized the look on everyone's face!  They needed the Kreme....Krispy Kreme!  We were proud North Carolinians on this day!  Check out the video below.

Some other shots from the mall!
Karen's favorite spot in any mall!!!  We shared a cinnamon and a regular buttery pretzel.  They were made to order too!
No, we didn't eat here, but we had to Namaste with Ronald McD!  We ended up eating some Tom Yum (spicy soup) and other goodies in the mall's awesome food court!

Happy New Year 2011!!

NYE in Bangkok Airport, Thailand
New Year's Eve 2011 and we were in the Bangkok airport waiting for our return flight to Delhi.  After arriving back "home" just before midnight, we successfully used the pre-paid taxi service and were greeted at our gate by our landlord and a few of his friends who invited us in for wine and dinner (of course we didn't eat until almost 1:00 a.m.).

2010 was a BIG year for us... it taught us a lot about patience, persistence, family, and hope.  It brought us a lot of changes with our move to India - and we survived!!  No resolutions for 2011, just hoping this year will bring even more adventures (in a good way).  Wishing you the best for 2011!!
